About the Author

Paul Beeston was born in 1937 in Listowel, Ontario, Canada. He began his baseball career as a player in the minor leagues, and later became a coach and manager. In 1989, he was named general manager of the Toronto Blue Jays, a position he held for 17 years. Under Beeston's leadership, the Blue Jays won two World Series championships, in 1992 and 1993. In 2002, Beeston was named Commissioner of Major League Baseball, a position he held until 2015.
